This SAE Recommended Practice establishes a uniform laboratory dynamometer method of testing all classes of passenger car brake systems.

The purpose of the document is to establish brake system capabilities with regard to: a. deceleration versus input, as affected by speed, brake temperature, and usage; b. brake system integrity; and c. stopping ability during emergency or inoperative power assist conditions.
