Scope

This standard prescribes design, application, and test requirements for electrical and electronic control apparatus on rail vehicles.

Purpose

This standard is intended to provide a set of uniform design, application, and test requirements for electrical and electronic control apparatus on rail vehicles. These requirements are the minimum necessary to ensure suitability for use in a rail vehicle environment. Use of this should lead to enhanced levels of reliability, and lower acquisition and maintenance costs.

Abstract
